Jake Mattison - 'Sorrow' - 4th June

JAKE MATTISON
SORROW
Released 4th June 2012
Jake Mattison is set to release his debut single Sorrow through Laissez Faire Club on 4th June 2012.
Jake Mattison is a Mancunian singer-songwriter whose songs are full to the brim with peculiarly innate, heart-felt soul. A former boxer who was plucked from a market stall to write songs for Simon Cowell's Syco label, Jake delivers beautifully crafted melodies in songs that inhabit the sort of real life that includes love and loss and addiction and desire. His voice, a brilliantly burred instrument that can soar and whisper without ever losing its richness and roundness.
In 2010, word of Jake's song-writing ability began to spread and Virgin Records asked him if he'd be interested in writing with Emeli Sandé. “I didn’t hear them properly in the meeting, though”, Jake says, “as I’m deaf in my left ear and have limited hearing in my right, so I walked out without saying anything!” Happily, none of that mattered too much and Jake went on to support Emeli on tour in 2011.
Sorrow is a mesmerising folk tale of pain and love lost with deep and momentous, yet soulful vocals and a rhythmic recurring bassline. Despite the despondent name of the track, Sorrow culminates in rapturous, gospel harmonies of joy in which the listener can revel. The single is set for release 4th June 2012 through Laissez Faire Club.
