Kate Havnevik 'Disobey'
Released 4th June 2012
‘Disobey’ is the second single from Norwegian singer / songwriter / performer Kate Havnevik. Taken off her sophmore album YOU, ‘Disobey’ is due for release on 4th June 2012 through Continentica Records.
After a lengthy stint in New York and London, Havnevik, now based in Oslo, has been compared to the likes to of Kate Bush and Goldfrapp. Raised by classically trained musician parents, Kate first dreamt of a career as a jazz guitarist, but soon discovered and harnessed a talent for writing, which lead to her latching onto music from the pop and trip-hop worlds. She was a regular face in Oslo’s fertile Blitz punk scene of the 90’s and attended a musically based high school, where she played classical guitar, before moving to the Liverpool to study music fulltime.
Kate’s versatility as a vocalist, musician and songwriter have garnered her successful collaborations that range from fellow countrymen Røyksopp, to UK dub-step innovators Engine-Earz, LA electronic hipster Carmen Rizzo, and multi-platinum selling German artist Schiller, with whom Kate has also co-written. On top of these she has toured extensively across the globe. Furthermore, Kate has also supported Sigur Rós and AIR throughout North American tours.
Produced and written with the legendary Guy Sigsworth (Björk, Frou Frou, Alanis Morissette & Madonna), ‘Disobey’ is a captivating electronic synth pop track with haunting melodious vocals and an infectious rhythmic beat. Disobey is driven by energetic beats mixed with army drums, it encourages you to disobey and not follow the norm and its rules! It's a playful song with a mischievous atmosphere and simple catchy melodies. ‘Disobey’ is set for physical and digital release on the 4th June 2012 through Continentica Records.
