DANANANANAKYROYD SPLIT UP. Final tour & single details.

Friday, September 30th, 2011

After five years of consistently smashing audiences around the collective face, we are gutted to announce that Glasgow’s six-man musical fireball Dananananaykroyd have announced their intention to split immediately after the conclusion of their forthcoming UK tour.

Drawing plaudits wide and varied, the outfit oft-described as “the best live band in the world,” have notched two critically-acclaimed albums including their most recent effort ‘There Is A Way’ made on Venice Beach, LA with legendary producer Ross Robinson.

“We all still love each other very much,” said the group, “for a band called Dananananaykroyd we’ve done more than we ever expected or possibly even intended and we’ve enjoyed nearly every step of the way. We’re very keen at the same time to make sure we’re never compromising or giving anything less than 100% and at this juncture of our collective lives, it makes sense to go out with a bang - which is exactly what this tour will be.”

Following shows in Leeds and Bristol, Dananananaykroyd’s 12-date farewell tour begins in hometown Glasgow and ends in a giant sphere of blood, guts, human flesh, fire and rock in Newcastle on 12th November and calls over the UK beforehand.

The band will release their final single ‘Think & Feel’ digitally on 7th November 2011.

TRACKLIST: 1. Zimbabwe, 2. Tapioca, 3. What Was Golden, 4. Oceans

From the ‘whistle while you work’ opening of ‘Zimbabwe’, the summer grooves of ‘Tapioca’ to the dramatic crescendo of ‘Oceans’, New Navy’s debut ‘Uluwatu’ EP  demonstrates the Australian bands powerful songwriting ability and consistent style.

New Navy balance sparkly guitars with front man Ben McInerny’s smooth vocals, delivering strong bass-lines and breezy indie grooves to great effect. They have received impressive early support from radio and media with comparisons to Foals, The Whitest Boy Alive and Cold War Kids when talking about this promising young 4 piece.

New Navy have come a long way since the release of their three-track demo last year, which saw them take out the JD set, hold the number one position on Triple J unearthed charts and share stages with the likes of Wolfmother, The Philly J’s, Midnight Juggernaughts, The Holidays and The Scare.

NME – “Foals go tropical.”
Stoney Roads - “Quintessentially the main export sound for Australian Indie dance at the moment”

Jodie Harsh’s legendary club night has come far since it’s humble beginnings at Soho Revue Bar in 2006. With a simple mission statement to bring a colourful fashion and music influence to West End nightlife which hadn’t happened since the 80’s. All of a sudden clubbers and stars flocked in, paparazzi hovered outside, the club popped up as a voice in Vogue and i-D magazine and word spread all over, with talk of the nightlife phenomenon spreading all the way to Tokyo.

Everyone wanted to dance there, drink there, play there, see and be seen there. Musically always one step ahead of the trend, guest DJ sets by the likes of Peaches, Siouxsie Sioux, Rosin Murphy, Robyn, Kissy Sellout, William Orbit, The XX, Fenech-Soler and Grum have complimented more live shows.

The constantly evolving spectacle swept through Shoreditch with a brief stint at The Last Days of Decadence, moved on to Paramount at the summit of the Centrepoint and has now settled in the sumptuous settings of Café de Paris, our new home.

The summer of 2011 saw the Circus troupe program the Relentless stage at Lovebox Festival and are collaborating with world-famous fashion photographer Tim Bret-Day on an exhibition project of enormous proportions.

Jodie Harsh and Tim Bret-day have launched their first exhibition, exploring the dark side of Circus and observing the cast and characters from the club as they prepare for their ultimate performance. For more information click here: http://on.fb.me/o4tNcz

What started off as a weekly Soho hangout has now flourished into a multifaceted brand, crossing over all spectrums of popular culture, branching out over not only clubland but the performing and visual arts, fashion and music industries.

This is going to be massive. This is…Circus.

Anomie Belle Gives Away Free Track - Ain’t No Sunshine - From Single Inky Drips

Anomie Belle
New Single - Inky Drips
Release Date: 17th October 2011

Download Here (Please post): http://bit.ly/qKMYRB
Watch Video Here (Please share): http://bit.ly/qrnywN

Anomie Belle’s Inky Drips drops on 17th October. This 4-song EP centers around the track “Inky Drips” off her upcoming record The Crush, which releases on 7th November.

It didn’t take long for critics and filmmakers to notice Anomie Belle’s music. Her music has been featured in Xbox’s Alan Wake, Showtime’s United States of Tara, and MTV’s Jersey Shore. Anomie Belle has also toured and collaborated with an impressive roster of folks including Tricky, The Album Leaf, Mr. Lif (The Perceptionists), Jon Auer (The Posies, Big Star), Little Dragon, and Bajofondo. She also shared the stage with Bonobo, Phantogram, Kid Koala, Azure Ray, The Heavy, Efterklang, Emily Wells, Grieves & Budo, Sea Wolf, Asobi Seksu, Kimya Dawson, Mirah, Tristeza, Yppah and others.

URB Magazine has called her music “sultry, smoky, seductive, sexy and dark.” Performer Magazine called her songs “beautiful symphonies,” “melancholy with sensual beats, lush strings and layered vocals.” Innocent Words magazine went as far as to call Anomie Belle “a musical mastermind.” Decide for yourself. Her music is a mix of electronic and organic instrumentation, fiercely sensual vocals, and thickly layered, ethereal soundscapes. The more you listen, the more you’ll find.

The deep layers in Anomie Belle music are accompanied equally complex emotions. “Piecing her name together from words meaning social unrest and a beautiful and charming woman, Seattle trip-hopper Anomie Belle has lofty aims echoing her view of music as a more powerful vehicle for education and enlightenment than classroom teachings. Meshing sultry vocals and moody instrumental programming, with a healthy amount of layering added to both, Anomie Belle tackles spectacle and alienation both lyrically and sonically,” writes Seattle Weekly. “Beautiful Desocialization and is a moniker quite apropos for Anomie Belle,” writes Hellbomb. “Her songs are critical of blind adherence to consumerism. They’re swanky and sexy, but they also champion individuality and critical thinking.”

“I grew up in your prototypical American suburb,” Anomie Belle explains. “The manicured lawns, strip mall parking lots, chain stores, and massive expanses of cement and housing developments depressed me. I chose the moniker Anomie Belle to speak to the decadent alienation of the American dream. Growing up, music became my outlet. Bored by video games and dollhouses, I plunked away on my parent’s piano for hours at a time, teaching myself to play blues riffs and writing little pop songs.”

From there she was off. Once Anomie Belle figured out how to multi-track record she studied guitar, drums, voice, and audio engineering, and continued to play classical violin in orchestras throughout. She spent four years working as a studio musician, chamber violinist and producer in Madrid, New York, Buenos Aires, Glasgow and Amsterdam. When she returned to the United States, Anomie began concocting her eloquently sultry, sexy style, drawing upon the multitude of genres that had surrounded her. Anomie Belle’s dark, introspective and sensual electronic music has been garnering much attention since her debut in 2008, and she is back with the provocative new single Inky Drips. Listen for yourself.

Ruben & Ra Offer Free Track Street Machine

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

http://soundcloud.com/rubenandra/street-machine

Ruben & Ra are back with another release after bringing Spanish boogie don Rayko to their increasingly watched Retrospective fold for ‘Retro003’, the still unmasked Ruben & Ra emerge once again from the looming shadow of Trellick Tower with another 4-tracker.

Dedicating the A-side to the golden era of stateside electro, ‘Street Dance’ lifts samples from Break Machine’s East Coast anthem ‘Street Dance’, while ‘Moving On’ pays homage to the Californian soul of Ollie & Jerry’s iconic ‘There’s No Stoppin Us’ from ‘84.

Over on the flip, the Sun is shining brightly with two poolside jams in the form of ‘Do You Need My Love?’ and the EP’s secret weapon ‘Island Living’. As is always the case with a Retrospective EP, there’s a 320k FREE download and this time it’s the NYC-inspired ‘Street Machine’.

Ruben & Ra are becoming hot property with a number of labels already pushing for releases so don’t be surprised if you hear more output from these 2 mysterious nu disco dons in the near future. It’s fair to say that things are going from strength to strength for this baby and his cat!
