Monte Pittman Signature Jarrell MPS Guitar Gets Debut At Super Bowl XLVI

Tuesday, January 31st, 2012

The Super Bowl Half Time Show has been home to many memorable guitar moments, and Super Bowl XLVI will be no exception. Phillip Jarrell of Jarrell Guitars announced at the 2012 NAMM Show the first live performance of the revolutionary new Monte Pittman Signature Jarrell MPS guitar during Super Bowl KLVI Halftime Show on Sunday, February 5th, courtesy of Monte Pittman, Grammy Award winning artist Madonna’s guitarist for the past ten years. NAMM Show 2012 attendees had the first opportunity to get ‘hands on, up close and personal’ with the instrument, experiencing its unique vibe.

Pittman and his Signature Jarrell guitar join an extraordinary group of guitarists who have performed at Super Bowl Half Time Shows, including Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash who stole the show from The Black Eyed Peas and Usher in 2011, Bruce Springsteen, who showed viewers that he was still “The Boss” with a crowd pleasing around the body guitar spin in 2009, and Prince, whose 2007 guitar solo was played behind a transparent sheet and held in a way that left critics deeming it “Phallic.” In 2006, Mick Jagger and The Rolling Stones banged it out with a boldness that was touted as a “raw, dirty, guitar sound, and in 2002, The Edge joined U2 and Bono in 2002 for a hypnotic guitar solo on “Where The Streets Have No Name.”

The Monte Pittman Signature Jarrell MPS is the result of the collaboration between the award winning visionary designer Phillip Jarrell and world renowned artist, writer, and guitarist Monte Pittman. Pittman plays so many different styles of music during any given performance that, until now, he required many different types of guitars to accommodate his needs. Utilizing Pittman’s feedback, Jarrell Guitars worked with MJ at the Seymour Duncan Shop to transform the finest MPS guitar at the time into something completely new - the most versatile instrument ever made. The Monte Pittman Signature Jarrell MPS boasts a mega set of Seymour Duncan pickups with a P-Rail neck, STk-S7 Vintage Hot Stack middle and a custom design SH-13 Dime Bucker Bridge. Both neck and bridge have 3 position mini switches, with custom wiring using a Super 5 way switch, and a kill switch. All together it seems Monte Pittman and Jarrell Guitars are hell bent on rocking the world - the sound of which is none other than simply amazing.

Jarrell Guitars was named “2010 Manufacturer of the Year” at the Music Industries Association of Canada (MIAC) Show in Canada, and has received accolades from PremierGuitar.com.

Robert Lauri and Mitch Hiller: Oh No - a new single with a mysterious world

Sunday, January 29th, 2012

Oh No is the new single from a new album to be released in summer. The single will be available in mid February on the main downloading sites.

This is not the first time that Robert Lauri and Mitch Hiller have joined forces. They have known each other for a long time and decided to pool their talents and creativity once again to bring us Oh No. This is the first track of a series of new songs together on the album which will be out in summer.

On this album, Robert Lauri is the composer, arranger and performer, and Mitch Hiller the lyricist. Their pooled talents have yielded pure magic. Very present, almost spellbinding, Robert Lauri’s voice is like a key that opens the door to an authentic and original world created by Mitch Hiller’s lyrics. Furthermore, Robert Lauri’s look in the video by Anna Clara Passarelli bolsters the overall effect. The mystery and suspense emanating from the clip empower Oh No to move the soul.

Robert Lauri has been a writer, composer and performer from a very young age. He has penned several hits throughout a long career which spanned ten years at Warner France. He has performed at the most prestigious international venues such as the Zénith, Olympia and Palais des Congrès in France, and has also taken part in the Telethon in the US and Canada. Robert Lauri is an eclectic musician with an international aura. He has mastered a wide variety of musical genres and his musical creativity seems to have no bounds. His sensitivity and openness to the world and to others make him a visionary melodist. He is ever prolific and treats us regularly to the range of his creative force. The diversity and wealth of his musical creations were much in evidence in 2011. The albums Western and Country and Power in Heaven were widely acclaimed and confirmed both his major musical talent and his capacity to innovate without respite. Every title is a passport to a new destination… to another world.

Mitch Hiller has written more than two hundred recorded songs. He has performed throughout Europe, the United Kingdom, the Middle East, the Caribbean and the US. He has also worked as vocal coach and/or as a singer for major labels such as EMI, Sony (Epic and Columbia), WEA, Polydor, as well as for other labels in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and the United States. He has worked in particular as a singer for such producers as Gus Dugeon, Chris Neil and Martin Ware. He has sung and arranged vocals on TV shows like Spitting Image, kytv and Heartbeat. He has performed on a number of cartoons including the long running ‘Wisdom of the Gnomes” which was shown in the UK, U.S.A, Canada, Australia and other English speaking territories. Mitch Hiller has also worked on recordings and/or live works for internationally renowned artists as Don Myrick and Louis Saterfield of Earth Wind and Fire, Chicken Shack, Chaka Khan, Billy Ocean, Luis Miguel as well as playing guitar, piano and singing with The Foundations for a number of years.

As a songwriter his songs have been recorded by artists such as Elaine Paige, Johnny Logan, Nick Berry. Geno Washington and Sarah Jane Morris have sung his works. His acclaimed album Scrapbook was released in 2008. He has also recorded an album with Paul Higgs, A Different View.

The Oh No clip was created by a talented Italian artist, Anna Clara Passarelli. This is not the first video editing she does for Robert Lauri – far from it. What is different this time is that she has also taken the photos that she uses in it. The atmosphere that this video exudes is perfectly in tune with the song and strengthens the mysterious world created by the music and lyrics. All the music videos by Anna Clara Passarelli cover the songs featured on Robert Lauri’s websites in harmony. The Oh No clip showcases Anna’s talent again.

MusicDishTV Presents “Give It To Me Now” by NazB

Saturday, January 28th, 2012

Pleasure and lots of it is the driving force behind NazB’s video “Give It To Me Now.” The video, directed by Shamsheed Sobha (Studio-S) is a very high quality professional one, and is so full of heat that you just might need a cold shower after watching it. With a strong, thumping beat, the base, keyboards, pipes, and drums provide the perfect backdrop for NazB’s colorful and creative lyrics about having his desires fulfilled without delay, declaring - “Shorty, give it to me raw/Give it to me now”.

Beautiful seductive women, fine cars, dancers, and a hot club scene work well together to convey the message that life is all about living it at the top and having what you want when you want it. No waiting allowed - if, of course, you can kick it like NazB. Visually stimulating, “Give It To Me Now” is racy, powerful and captivating. Though the message is simple, it is one that is delivered powerfully as NazB sets it off in both English and French, which has a reputation for being the language of love. His accent and tone combine perfectly with the pulse of the music to provide a video experience extraordinaire.

Brent Byrd Tours…Til’ The World Ends 2012

Friday, January 27th, 2012
Florida acoustic touring musician Brent Byrd aptly titled ‘The Peaceful Rebel Man’ will kick off his 2012 Til’ The World Ends Tour on February 1st beginning with a performance at Churchill’s Pub in Miami, FL.

Byrd has been roughing it on the road to his dream, literally. Throughout 2011, Brent has been wearing out the tires on his 20′ Coachmen RV touring the U.S. in support of his self-released CD ‘Time To Start Livin’. He has been making waves across the country as an explosive live performer incorporating loops and acoustic instruments to create live improvised jams with a folk rock infused vibe.

Byrd has most recently performed with Beverly McClellan from NBC-TV’s The Voice at Flamingo Gardens annual Flamingo Fest in Davie, Florida. Over the years he has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with many musicians to include Jason Mraz, Shawn Mullins, Uncle Tupelo (Jeff Tweedy, Jay Farrar), Thomas Ian Nichols (American Pie Movies), Velvet Revolver, Shinedown, Papa Roach and My Chemical Romance at Buzzfest XIV while touring with the band SuperDeluxe and Steve Ewing from The Urge as well as many other artists.

Byrd currently resides in St. Augustine but grew up in small college town in east central Illinois. After graduating high school he traded in his guitar for an M-16 and set off on a 4 year hitch in Army. The experienced opened up his eyes to the problems and tribulations of the world which has become an inspiration for his songwriting.

His music has been described as if Bob Marley and Jimi Hendrix were jammin’ at a late night party and just before sunrise The Black Crowes and Bob Dylan showed up to add the finishing touches to an unforgettable evening of musical madness.

During his 2012 tour, Byrd plans to descend on 11 states throughout the Southeast and Midwest wrapping up in April with a performance at The 48th Annual Ron Jon Easter Surf Festival in Cocoa Beach, FL before heading west. Brent says of his future touring plans, “I plan to keep on going until the world ends or the highway…then turn around and do it all over again”.

BlancaWhite Offering Free Download Of Song From Their Debut Album

Thursday, January 26th, 2012

BlancaWhite announced that it is offering a free download of the song “Your Boyfriend is Lame” from their debut album, Resurgence of Rock. “Your Boyfriend is Lame” features lead vocals by Terry Ilous who was the lead singer for XYZ and is now fronting Great White. As the title suggests, the song is a tongue in cheek rocker about all those great looking girls who end up with the lamest guys. Terry Ilous does a fantastic job on vocals even throwing out a few lines in Spanish and French. The song is available on the band’s website, http://www.ResurgenceOfRock.com.

BlancaWhite’s debut album, Resurgence of Rock, is a rallying cry, a call to arms for a global resurgence of the sounds that made rock n’ roll great! Resurgence of Rock is original, in-your-face, party-hardy, 70’s and 80’s style hard rock at its finest, sung by legendary performers from that era.

An extraordinary international project two years in the making, Resurgence of Rock taps the exceptional talents of 80s vocalists Paul Shortino (QUIET RIOT, ROUGH CUTT and KING KOBRA), Terry Ilous (XYZ and GREAT WHITE), Lorraine Lewis(FEMME FATALE and L.A. NOOKIE), and Jeff Paris (CINDERELLA, VIXEN, SLASH and KEB MO), who deliver stunning performances with all the skill and spirit of hard rock’s greatest era.

Billed as a “hard rock grass roots revolution,” Resurgence of Rock is the brainchild of international lawyer Ken Savage and brothers Austin and Rick Schell, who spared no effort or expense to bring their hard rock dreams to fruition. “We’re just ordinary rock fans who want the world to return to the glory days of hard rock, and we cared enough to do something about it,” says Savage, a fifth-generation Texan based in Paris, France. “This is hard rock made by fans for fans, pure and simple. It was a thrill and an honor to make this album, and we hope every hard rock fan from the 70s and 80s will enjoy it.”

Resurgence of Rock is unique in the manner it mixes hard rock sounds of the 70s and 80s with a modern-day perspective. “The driving rock sounds on this album are straight out of the classic hard rock era. But the subject matter and lyrics are from the perspective of today,” notes Savage. “The songs ought to appeal to anyone who grew up in the late 70s or 80s. The songs either look back on that era with fondness, or they address issues that someone who grew up in that period, now with a few more years under his or her belt, faces today.” In short, “Resurgence of Rock is a unique mix of the vintage, classic sounds of bands like AC/DC or Van Halen, with the perspective of today,” explains Savage.

BlancaWhite is expected to announce the street date for the new album soon.

Gerald Forrest’s GospelChops.com Series Returns to ‘Give the Drummer Some’ with DVD Release of “Shed Sessionz Vol. 3″

Thursday, January 26th, 2012

It was in the iconic 1967 song “Cold Sweat” that the late great James Brown notably called out, “Give the drummer some! Give the drummer some!” acknowledging the drumbeat, steadily in the background, as an instrumental force centering our musical universe. Well James Brown would be proud as veteran video producer/director Gerald Forrest, with the creation of GospelChops.com, has proceeded to give the drummer some and more via his ambitious DVD releases entitled, “Shed Sessionz.”

A groundbreaking video series, “Shed Sessionz” features top drummers from around the world, along with their energetic drum chop performance techniques, drum lessons, interviews and behind-the-scenes footage. With Forrest’s latest release offering, “Shed Sessionz Vol. 3,” he highlights some of the best drummers across the United States.

Forrest originally came up with the concept for “Shed Sessionz” after developing the website, Gospelchops.com as a vehicle to pay tribute to the numerous musical contributions of generations of gospel musicians. His original vision was to educate the world about this inspirational art form and its history. The site has offered free gospel music education, lessons and content since 2005.

Based on the reception and success of GospelChops.com, Forrest got the notion to produce and direct his first feature drum video, “Shed Sessionz Vol. 1″ (SSV1) in 2006. Featuring drumming prodigies, Tony Royster Jr. and Thomas Pridgen, never before had a full video production been devoted just to drummers in such fashion. The music industry embraced the concept. SSV1 became a global sensation, surpassing expectations with record-breaking web traffic and popularity.

Building upon his vision, Forrest began to scour the country for additional talent while continuing to release free gospel music content and lessons online. In 2007, Forrest directed and produced the second edition in the GospelChops.com series, “Shed Sessionz Vol. 2″ (SSV2). With an all-star cast of world-class musicians from Los Angeles to Israel, SSV2 took off like a rocket, receiving high acclaim and stellar reviews in drum magazines, drum websites, and drumming blogs around the world. Mainstream media started to take note of this distinctive cultural phenomenon and musicians around the world responded by coining the classic phrase, “Thank you GospelChops!”

In 2009, Forrest set out to expand the outreach efforts of GospelChops and appeal to an even broader audience. Shining his light on gospel bass players, he produced and directed an unprecedented bass performance/instruction DVD, “Bass Sessionz Vol. 1.” Once again, the project broke new barriers in the music industry by bringing together the legends of gospel and jazz, garnering appearances by Grammy Award-winning jazz drummer, Peter Erskine along with Grammy nominated jazz pianist, John Beasley. Gospel bass legend, Andrew Gouche, also put his soulful touch on the project.

The newly released “Shed Sessionz Vol. 3″ (SSV3) profiles seven powerful drumming masters. The sessions are laced with intensity and passion as drummers Justin Tyson, Matthew Garstka, Tim Newton, Darion Ja’Von, Frank Fluker, Fred Boswell and Eddie Heyward chop it up with performances that once again bring the drum beat front and center.

“Anyone even remotely familiar with the Black church recognizes that music is at the core of our worshiping and celebration. I created GospelChops.com to pay homage to this fact. I wanted the world to have access to the beauty and creativity that is often hidden within the confines of the church sanctuary,” expresses Forrest. “‘Shed Sessionz’ followed as an extension of that same thinking. The drumbeat, like gospel music, is at the essence of it all. It is what holds the rhythm, yet the actual drummer is often just taken for granted. ‘Shed Sessionz’ changes that!”

A man on a mission, Forrest created the nonprofit corporation, GospelChops Foundation last year as another extension of his vision. The organization is dedicated to enhancing the lives of at-risk children in under served communities through music education. The Young Musicians Program, under its umbrella, is an after-school music-learning program in California, which has gained sponsorship from Marines Toys for Tots and the Google Corporation. Proceeds from the video series support the foundation’s efforts.

Catch the beat with Forrest and order the “Shed Sessionz” series now at GospelChops.com. Take at peek at the drum magic on YouTube.
