Coupe de Ville

Si Cranstoun and his band perform the song “Coupe De Ville” lives at the Balajo, Paris in this video that’s rocking and rolling and providing a good time for everyone in the listening or watching vicinity. The song is catchy, piano solo is remarkable, and Si Cranstoun has just the right vocal style for this song. Harmonies are well done, and it will be a miracle if you can sit still or down while this hot little number is playing. The video has a retro “Happy Days” look and it works well visually, where we get to see Cranstoun and crew seriously jamming. A black and white image of a lady who is definitely from the 50’s is shown intermittently throughout the video, giving it even more authenticity. “Coupe De Ville” is a good time, good mood, good feeling song that’s catchy and well performed and produced. You’ll be singing it before you know it. The song it available on iTunes, but don’t forget to catch the video. It is definitely a show not to be missed.

“Colin Radu is an extraordinary up-and-coming singer/songwriter. With his band Beyond The Sun, Colin displays the soulful influences of singers, from Gavin DeGraw, to Ryan Tedder combined with the timelessness of Pat Monahan (Train). He and his band are a force to be reckoned with.”
Ken Tamplin, The Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy, Los Angeles, CA

“I’ve known Phil Radu for a couple of years, having had him as a student at Berklee in a few different classes. He’s always done really well. Recently I had the chance to listen to some of his band’s latest release. I knew it would be good, but I was still floored by the songs, production, talent and focus. He and his brothers seem to follow a very simple formula: Write great songs; play and sing them really well. Beyond The Sun is a winner in my opinion!”
Jon Finn, Professor, Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA

The fresh, energetic and heartfelt music of Beyond The Sun celebrates the Canadian band’s belief that lyrics and melodies can tell an on-going, universal story and help human beings connect powerfully through their many diverse experiences. Through catchy yet personal tunes that sparkle with infinite layers of harmony, guitarist Phil, lead vocalist Colin and drummer Dalton unleash tunes that resonate personally with their audiences. Growing up in an environment where creativity, the Arts and humor were equally supported, they immersed themselves in many styles of music, from pop, rock and folk, to rap and hip hop at an early age and found limitless ways to make music from their toys and other objects they discovered in the world. After forming Beyond The Sun, the trio immediately garnered the attention of audiences throughout its home country and elsewhere. Along with maintaining an ambitious schedule of live shows, each member continues to fine-tune his proficiency at his instrument, with two members formally studying at the prestigious Berklee College of Music.

MusicDishTV Presents “Sunny” By Pop Singer-songwriter Kelly Waters

Friday, October 12th, 2012

Kelly Waters “Sunny” is a really amazing video. First of all, she has a rich, beautiful voice, and her ability to use it as an instrument is extraordinary. On this particular track, she uses a vast and impressive vocabulary as she delivers the message of her song, which is one of love. Kelly sings about the love she feels for the guy that has made her heart throb. Then there’s the video with her singing and making muffins in the kitchen while she exudes sexiness as she reads the dictionary dressed like a librarian. Her style is that of the eccentric girl that you just have to love because of her ways. Her video and music are lovely and I really liked the presentation. Both the song and video are very well performed and produced. “Sunny” is definitely bright!

Following His Debut Single Featuring Snoop Dogg, Pop/R&B Sensation A.M.X. Boasts “We Can Do Whatever” With Next Release

Monday, September 10th, 2012

When new pop/R&B sensation Andre Mieux aka A.M.X. boasts “We Can Do Whatever” in the hook of his latest single release, he means it! Unleashing the track on the heels of his debut “You Made Me Change My Number,” which featured none other than rap icon Snoop Dogg, A.M.X. spits game with the stamina of an artist hauling heat. Produced by dance track master Brian “Chazz” Padilla, “We Can Do Whatever” body slams with lyrical combustion as A.M.X. continues to pack power on his musical path to the top! With “We Can Do Whatever,” A.M.X. seamlessly showcases his brilliant artistry, effortlessly fusing elements of rap, pop and house, bringing a sound that sizzles and simmers to the dance floor.

A.M.X.’s recent mixtape “Broken Halo,” downloaded over 90,000 times on Coast 2 Coast Mixtapes, was another recent indication that he is an artist with a strong intention for winning. A.M.X. dropped “Broken Halo” late July, following the Snoop Dogg-laced, “You Made Me Change My Number” which was produced by the Grammy Award nominated duo “Da Internz.” Sean Brown, Shorty Mack and Bizzy Bone from Bone Thugs-n-Harmony added fire to the production which showcases A.M.X.’s vocal finesse, musical muscle and clear capacity to ignite the club. Seven tracks strong, “Broken Halo,” is a far departure from the A.M.X.’s classical roots however!

A classically trained pianist, musicianship rests deep within the core of A.M.X.’s heart. The West Covina, CA native has been writing, singing and dancing since he was 8 years old. By the age of 12, he was producing music with Grammy Award winning artist, Ricky Lawson of the Yellowjackets. A.M.X.’s musical gift has indeed forged a litany of accomplishments.

Outside of his quest as a solo artist and entertainer, he is also a talented songwriter and producer. His song, “Let Me Be the One” was recorded by the Korean boy band sensation SS501, he charted on Billboard’s The Next Big Sound Top 25 and his musical vision provides the soundtrack for the DVD independent film release, “Wigger.” In addition to his new single release, A.M.X. produced and co-wrote a song for Bobby DeBarge Jr., son of the late Robert DeBarge, entitled “One and Only.” Both “We Can Do Whatever,” and “One and Only” are available on iTunes.

Committed and determined to excel as a solo act, A.M.X. has been touring internationally and nationally in support of his career, opening for Boyz II Men, Joe, Ginuwine, SWV, Dru Hill and most recently R. Kelly. “I’m excited to infuse my own special style and brand into the music scene,” offers A.M.X. “As a kid playing classical piano, I knew music was my life. My musical progression has taken dips and turns. To end up here though, making music with some of the hottest in the business, it is beyond a dream come true! I’m really feeling like I can do whatever right now and win!”

A.M.X. plans to continue to do ‘whatever,’ bombarding music fans with ammunition from his musical catalog of hits. The artist plans to shoot a video music video soon and release an E.P. in the near future. Check for the A.M.X. penned Bobby DeBarge Jr. single “One and Only,” at http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/one-and-only/id556717632?i=556717696&ign-mpt=uo%3D and A.M.X’s “We Can Do Whatever” at http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/we-can-do-whatever-single/id556769314.

Contemporary Chanteuse Lily Calls The West Australian Port City Of Fremantle Home

Tuesday, September 4th, 2012

If music can be just like putting on a dress and each one has a different style, shape, colour and texture, then Lily is currently wearing a soft and flowing wine-coloured dress with a fitted bodice.

Short and just a little bit left of centre, it’s a perfect Fremantle dress and equally perfect attire for the two songs the dark-haired, creamy-featured singer has recently recorded.

In Dreams With You and Love Song 612 are two songs written by fellow Fremantle singer-songwriter Billie Reid. A prolific and sometimes highly political songwriter and poet, Billie is a bit of a recluse so local studio owner Darren Halifax wanted to make sure his work was heard. Darren purchased the rights to a collection of Billie’s songs, is recording them with a number of Perth singers and invited Lily to be one of them.

Fuelled by Eurasian heritage, a lust to wander and a well-stamped passport tucked into that bodice, contemporary songbird Lily calls the West Australian port city of Fremantle home. When you hear these interpretations though, you’ll also wonder how big a piece of Nashville, Tennessee she carries.

The 23-year-old’s recordings of Billie Reid’s songs are soulfully country and with an undeniable feeling and yearning for the coast. The songs from the project have allowed her to re-interpret the songs and let imagination rule.

“We’ve treated the songs with a breezy tone and have taken a really human approach to them,” Lily says. “It’s nice to work in a style which hasn’t been expected. It’s totally different from what I normally sing, which is part of the point. When Lily meets Billie’s songs I get totally immersed in this project and somehow the songs have become part of my own story too.”

While there were originals of Billie’s to listen to, Lily got the chance to interpret each song in a way which resonated with her and spoke truth from a woman’s perspective.

“Once we started working on the songs, where to take them became quite obvious. With 612, his sentiment is really something I could relate to, so it was really easy to interpret the lyrics in a meaningful way.

“For In Dreams With You, I had to push it a little more to really create my own relationship with the song. Equally, that’s part of the challenge of taking on someone else’s songs. I think it’s a greater challenge to be working with existing melodies.”

In her heart, Lily is a girl bursting with stories to tell. Irrelevant of era, genre or format, the ability to tell a worthy story makes for a beguiling song. Like any good story - even someone else’s - the chance for Lily to tell it in her own voice is a truly beautiful and honourable thing.

Lily can’t quite put her finger on which genre of music she loves the most though. Immersing herself in the vein-deep heritage of Nashville turned all musical notions inside out. Lily tasted and flirted with everything from stomping honky-tonk to angelically soulful country before answering the call of Freo, the mighty Indian Ocean and Billie’s songs.

The petite singer has always known that music was her destiny. With a father who continues to sing and drum in numerous bands and a mother who was also a singer, Lily has always been surrounded by music, so it really felt inevitable

“Unlike a lot of kids, I was quite proud of my parents’ musical taste. There were a real mix of styles and genres constantly in our ears. There was a lot of Motown. Growing up, my brothers and I were surrounded by Earth Wind & Fire, the Chi-Lites and Aretha Franklin. It didn’t take me long to get suckered in by the powerful emotional pull of women like Billie Holiday and Nina Simone. This music became a tradition in our household.”

The singer made her debut at an end of year school performance. Frightened out of her wits, she sang Summertime from Porgy and Bess and absolutely loved the experience. Next stop was the school jazz band and she never looked back.

Now with music by her side - and an ever-evolving wardrobe - Fremantle is the perfect place for Lily to take a deep cleansing breath and open her musical heart to Billie Reid’s songs.
