True Becoming Win A Spot At Uproar Fest In Scranton

Wednesday, August 29th, 2012

After padding their resume with sets supporting active rock heavy-hitters such as Papa Roach, In This Moment, Pop Evil and more over the past several months, NEPA’s own True Becoming announced today that they have won the regional competition to play at the Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival at Toyota Pavilion in Scranton, PA on August 28th.

Out of the 1,651 bands competing nationally, True Becoming kept pace with front of the pack by placing 18th overall in fan votes when the contest officially ended. This earned the band members a chance to share the spotlight at the event alongside bands such as Shinedown, Godsmack, P.O.D., Staind, and more while playing on the Ernie Ball Stage.

The competition for the slot on the Scranton date of the festival was fierce with three other Northeast PA bands also placing in the top-20 nationally. Because of this, when the voting was complete, True Becoming lead vocalist Rich Allen thought that his band had just missed out on the amazing opportunity by a narrow margin.

“We were sure we’d be congratulating one of the other bands on their win.” said Allen.

But then, True Becoming received an email with the subject “Congratulations Scranton Battle of the Bands Winner”. As it turns out, Uproar Festival regional winners were not just determined by the fan votes alone. The competing bands were also judged on five categories: Originality of Material, Songwriting Skills, Sense of Innovation, Quality of Performance, and Public Appeal. The panel of judges included four of rock music’s top industry professionals.

“We all feel so blessed and honored for the support from our fans,” explained bassist Ed Stef. “And for us to have been chosen out of so many great artists is an honor upon itself.”

With their win at this date of the Uproar Festival, True Becoming is now in the running (along with other regional winners at each date of the tour) for the grand prize of the Ernie Ball battle of the bands which includes a record produced by Jay Baumgardner (Bush, Evanescence, Papa Roach) and the opportunity to perform next year on the entire Uproar Festival’s national touring schedule.

Barix Audio over IP Solution to Support Live Streams from 2012 International Piano Festival

Tuesday, January 17th, 2012

ZURICH, SWITZERLAND, January 16, 2012 — Audio over IP pioneer Barix AG will bring the 2012 International Piano Festival to a global audience this year through the power of streaming media.

The International Piano Festival is a series of weekly piano concerts taking place from March 3 through April 7, 2012 at the historic 400-seat Teatro Miela in Trieste, Italy. The Association ‘Il Concerto, founded in 2007 to spread knowledge and love for music, hosts the annual event. Featured performers this year include internationally-known musicians Anna Fedorova, Natalia Morozova, Marcos Madrigal, Roberto Prosseda, Trio Maurice and the duo Chiara Soave-Cecilia Baccolo.

Barix will provide a complete Audio over IP solution to support the live audio streams originating from the theater. Listeners can access the streams at home or on the go at http://www.ilconcerto.eu/Il_Concerto/Live.html using desktop computers, smart phones, tablets and other web-accessible devices with audio reception.

The Association ‘Il Concerto cites broadcast-quality sound, flexibility and ease of use as key reasons for choosing Barix.

“Barix makes broadcasting applications dramatically simple,” said Riccardo Radivo, artistic director of the International Piano Festival. “In addition to supporting live streams in the theater, the Barix Audio over IP solution will enable listeners everywhere to hear the concerts on desktop computers, smart phones and other audio devices, expanding the vistas of the Association’s knowledge and love of music.”

The International Piano Festival audio feeds will originate from a front of house mixer in the theater. A Barix Exstreamer 1000 professional Audio over IP device will receive a balanced stereo signal from a mixer output, and encode the audio for distribution over a high-speed broadband connection. (A second stereo output from each mixer will connect to a digital recorder for live recording.)

Barix Instreamer firmware will encode the analog audio signals in the MPEG1 Layer III 48Khz format — the highest bit rate allowed for maximum audio quality. The broadband connection will transport the digital encoded signals to a remote Icecast server, which enables the live stream over fixed and mobile devices.

Where Is Jazz At? 2011 JZ Music Festival Shanghai

Monday, October 31st, 2011

<p align=”center”><a href=”http://www.musicdish.com/china/photo/JZ2011/” target=”_blank”><img src=”http://musicdish.com/china/photo/JZ2011/images/TiaandKnutz2.JPG” alt=”" width=”480″ border=”0″><br><i>More JZ Music Fest Pics</i></a>

<p>The seventh <a href=”http://www.jzfestival.com/en/” target=”_blank”>JZ Music Festival Shanghai</a> Green Note just ended last weekend in the Expo Garden Park. Nearly 70 groups of artists joined the festival, including both globally renowned jazz masters and smashing young artists of various genres of music. The musicians gave great performance on five distinctive stages. By the river and the bridge, with boats passing through, thousands of music fans enjoyed two days’ of jazz in the coziest weather of Shanghai.

<p align=”center”><a href=”http://www.musicdish.com/china/photo/JZ2011/” target=”_blank”><img src=”http://musicdish.com/china/photo/JZ2011/images/JackPrior.JPG” alt=”" width=”480″ border=”0″><br><i>More JZ Music Fest Pics</i></a>

<p>The first day started with <a href=”http://site.douban.com/jackprior/” target=”_blank”>Jack Prior</a>, a British folk singer, on the Blue Grass stage. His warm voice, fluid guitar, and improvised lyrics gathered quite a few people together. During the show, he taught the audience to sing a simply happy song called ‘Love Love Love is Calling Your Name’ with him, which was so impressive that even after two whole days’ of the festival, the lyrics and melody of that song were still hovering in many people’s mind.

<p align=”center”><a href=”http://www.musicdish.com/china/photo/JZ2011/” target=”_blank”><img src=”http://musicdish.com/china/photo/JZ2011/images/LaurentdeWilde.JPG” alt=”" width=”480″ border=”0″><br><i>More JZ Music Fest Pics</i></a>

<p>On the River Side stage, the French jazz musician <a href=”http://www.laurentdewilde.com” target=”_blank”>Laurent de Wilde</a> played some top classic jazz for us. Beginning with several tributes to Duke Ellington, the three musicians held appeals to all real jazz fans. Followed by them were the new jazz group J3, featuring three excellent young artists. Besides the enthralling saxophone, keyboard, and drum, they also put in some funky vocal sound to their music. J3 finished their last song with the audience participating in the vocal melody part.

<p align=”center”><a href=”http://www.musicdish.com/china/photo/JZ2011/” target=”_blank”><img src=”http://musicdish.com/china/photo/JZ2011/images/TiaandKnutz3.JPG” alt=”" width=”480″ border=”0″><br><i>More JZ Music Fest Pics</i></a>

<p>The popular soul and R&B singer <a href=”https://www.facebook.com/tia.rayray” target=”_blank”>Tia</a> from Beijing appeared on the River Side stage with her multi-national band Tha Knutz. Their music blends hip-hop, funk, R&B with jazz and soul, displayed by sexy and sweet voice of Tia, drawing lots of people to the stage and swing with the music.

<p align=”center”><a href=”http://www.musicdish.com/china/photo/JZ2011/” target=”_blank”><img src=”http://musicdish.com/china/photo/JZ2011/images/Longshendao3.JPG” alt=”" width=”480″ border=”0″><br><i>More JZ Music Fest Pics</i></a>

<p>On the second day, <a href=”https://www.facebook.com/pages/%E9%BE%8D%E7%A5%9E%E9%81%93%E5%AE%98%E6%96%B9facebook%E9%A0%81-Long-Shen-Dao-Official-Facebook-Page/138609372821952″ target=”_blank”>Long Shen Dao</a>, the king of Chinese reggae, put on the first show at the Green Note stage. Their reggae music is characterized by abundant Chinese elements, especially the fantastic use of Guzheng, an ancient Chinese string instrument, which makes them so conspicuous among all other reggae bands. According to the vocal, they hope that the listeners could recognize them at once as a Chinese band, and thus bring Chinese music to the world.

<p align=”center”><a href=”http://www.musicdish.com/china/photo/JZ2011/” target=”_blank”><img src=”http://musicdish.com/china/photo/JZ2011/images/Hanggai2.JPG” alt=”" width=”480″ border=”0″><br><i>More JZ Music Fest Pics</i></a>

<p>The well-received Mongolian band <a href=”http://hanggai.bandcamp.com” target=”_blank”>Hanggai</a> returned to the stage of Shanghai after the Black Rabbit Music Festival, with hundreds of fans craving for their performance. Their perfect mixture of Mongolian tune and rock again aroused people’s emotion, and the fans gathered round dancing to the drinking song as the tempo went faster and faster.

<p align=”center”><a href=”http://www.musicdish.com/china/photo/JZ2011/” target=”_blank”><img src=”http://musicdish.com/china/photo/JZ2011/images/DJGaryWangplayingonearthlounge.JPG” alt=”" width=”480″ border=”0″><br><i>More JZ Music Fest Pics</i></a>

<p>On the stage of the Earth Lounge, various DJs played their groovy remixes without interval. <a href=”https://www.facebook.com/GaryShelter” target=”_blank”>DJ Gary Wang</a> brought some really cool funk music, leading to people, including quite a few kids, swaying and jiving freely. <a href=”http://www.myspace.com/djyoudai” target=”_blank”>DJ Youdai</a> did remix versions of several classic hits, such as ‘Smell Like Teen Spirit’ by Nirvana and ‘Axel F’ by Crazy Frog, which were appealing to people of any country or age.

<p><img src=”http://musicdish.com/china/photo/JZ2011/images/artofdigginginexpopark.JPG” alt=”" width=”300″ align=”right”>Moreover, the amazing views of the Expo Garden Park were also a plus to the jazz music festival. Several abstract sculptures made up of steel were presented around the Bao Steel Stage, while the River Side stage was set up by the Tadiao Café, which was comprised of two large cranes. From every stage, both artists and the audience can see the largest river and the symbolic bridge of Shanghai, with big boats steaming along. Environmental protection was another distinguishing feature of the festival. Not only were there environmental booths and reusable bags were distributed, but also people could get free water if they brought their own water bottle.

<p>Comfortable weather, beautiful scenery, abundant food and entertainment, remarkable music, what more can you expect from a music festival? And that’s what 2011 Jazz Shanghai Music Festival provided for all music lovers.
