iWantJam Launches Beta Site and Invites Bands To Setup Profile

Wednesday, November 7th, 2012

iWantJam announced the launch of the beta version of their live music streaming portal at http://www.iwantjam.com. Singers, musicians and bands are invited to register and set up their artist profile where they can share their music, events and build an audience for their online concerts.

While bands focus on driving bigger audiences to their shows, there is an even larger fanbase left out because they are not able to attend. iWantJam enables bands and musicians to tap into this neglected pool by allowing them to be an integral part of any live event, anywhere is the world. Fans no longer have to “wish they could be there,” as they’re seeing the entire concert from beginning to end right in the comfort of their own homes or anywhere their laptop or digital device allows. Combined with interactive tool allowing fans to be ‘part of the show,’ iWantJam gives fans immediate gratification while giving emerging act a much needed “shot in the arm” from a global audience.

Leading up to the site’s beta launch, iWantJam has chosen three artists as ‘iWantJam Endorsed,’ representing acts that embody the ideals espoused by the site (i) live music, (ii) touring and (iii) connecting with fans worldwide through social media. iWantJam Endorsed Artists include Zurich-based Miss Diamond DJane, Boston’s One Step Away and Connecticut pop/rock band Brookline Drive.

iWantJam is a brand new type of music site that aims to connect musicians and fans worldwide through live shows, video streaming and social media. Nothing can replace the feeling of a live show, and iWantJam’s powerful & easy-to-use platform will bring your favorite band right into your bedroom for free. Artists will be able to connect with their fans on a much deeper level than just a profile page and music button, thus offering far more than a promotional device, but a unique experiential connection. Our Endorsed Artists are like iWantJam ambassadors, we want to make sure they reflect our goals and spirit to their fans.”

Making use of the connections IWantJam is building will be one of the most crucial advantages to the site, Moataz explains. IWantJam will not only host musicians and their fans, but also music professionals and recording studios and live venues that musicians’ can tap to help build their career. “This network aspect of the site is something we are very keen on. It’s not just a music site for musicians and fans/music enthusiasts, but a platform to reach and be reached by the music industry pros that might have discovered them through a live streamed.”

Miss Diamond is an international superstar in the making; she’s already become an in-demand VIP female DJ for VIP guests and her mixes are played regularly on radio stations around the world. There is no other DJ, female or male, quite like her in the world. Brent Byrd Tours…Til’ The World Ends 2012

Friday, January 27th, 2012
Florida acoustic touring musician Brent Byrd aptly titled ‘The Peaceful Rebel Man’ will kick off his 2012 Til’ The World Ends Tour on February 1st beginning with a performance at Churchill’s Pub in Miami, FL.

Byrd has been roughing it on the road to his dream, literally. Throughout 2011, Brent has been wearing out the tires on his 20′ Coachmen RV touring the U.S. in support of his self-released CD ‘Time To Start Livin’. He has been making waves across the country as an explosive live performer incorporating loops and acoustic instruments to create live improvised jams with a folk rock infused vibe.

Byrd has most recently performed with Beverly McClellan from NBC-TV’s The Voice at Flamingo Gardens annual Flamingo Fest in Davie, Florida. Over the years he has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with many musicians to include Jason Mraz, Shawn Mullins, Uncle Tupelo (Jeff Tweedy, Jay Farrar), Thomas Ian Nichols (American Pie Movies), Velvet Revolver, Shinedown, Papa Roach and My Chemical Romance at Buzzfest XIV while touring with the band SuperDeluxe and Steve Ewing from The Urge as well as many other artists.

Byrd currently resides in St. Augustine but grew up in small college town in east central Illinois. After graduating high school he traded in his guitar for an M-16 and set off on a 4 year hitch in Army. The experienced opened up his eyes to the problems and tribulations of the world which has become an inspiration for his songwriting.

His music has been described as if Bob Marley and Jimi Hendrix were jammin’ at a late night party and just before sunrise The Black Crowes and Bob Dylan showed up to add the finishing touches to an unforgettable evening of musical madness.

During his 2012 tour, Byrd plans to descend on 11 states throughout the Southeast and Midwest wrapping up in April with a performance at The 48th Annual Ron Jon Easter Surf Festival in Cocoa Beach, FL before heading west. Brent says of his future touring plans, “I plan to keep on going until the world ends or the highway…then turn around and do it all over again”.

Can I Have Some Mohanik” Tour: Mongol Garage Rock Touring China - January 12-15

Monday, January 9th, 2012

“Can I Have Some Mohanik Tour 2011″

Thursday, January 12 - Hohhot - NING Livehouse w/DJ B.O

Friday, January 13 - Beijing - D-22 w/Moon Tyrant, DJ B.O

Saturday, January 14 - Ningbo - CMK Livehouse w/DJ B.O

Sunday, January 15 - Shanghai - Yuyintang w/Banana Monkey, Moon Tyrant, Horde, B.O

Sponsored by Music*Dish China.

Mohanik is a garage rock/punk band from Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. After forming in 2004 and playing club gigs around their native city, they had a breakout year in 2009. Their playing tightened up, revealing an infectious pop side to their thorough punk passion. Due to their new confidence, their shows generated a lot of buzz, culminating in a win for “Best Alternative/Punk Band” at the 2009 Mongolian Underground Music Awards (MUMA). They also released two singles on a the Hi-Fi Label Presents… Underground Sessions compilation. Their songs proved quite popular, especially Moritoi Ch Boloosio. They followed with the release of their debut album, 100-N Undaa (100 Tugrik Soda). In April 2011, the band made their international debut in Shanghai, playing two raucous shows in Shanghai as part of Trash A Go-Go. In July 2011, the band played in support of Shanghai bands Boys Climbing Ropes, The Horde, and Moon Tyrant on their tour of Mongolia.

Dawaajargal - Vocals/Guitar

Tsogt - Vocals/Lead Guitar

Enerelt - Bass

Badser - Drums

“Mohanik is a rocking good band bursting with a youthful rebellion and infectious, carefree energy. They’re also some really cool dudes. Touring Mongolia with them was a pleasure.”

-Ho-Tom the Conqueror (Tom Mangione), singer/guitarist of The Horde

“Mohanik’s on-stage energy is only surpassed by the warmth and friendliness they showed us throughout our tour in Mongolia. I’d let them babysit my future children anytime.”

-Ivan Belcic, vocalist of Moon Tyrant and Death to Giants

Moon Tyrant: Shanghai hard rock/heavy metal band with shredding riffs and throat tearing vocals. The band can crash heavy ahead but can swing when the moment catches them. Check out their album Future Superhuman. They toured Mongolian with Mohanik, but this is their first show in Beijing.

DJ B.O: He rebels against people who DJ because they are afraid to dance in public. He will sing and dance to provoke movement. He is somewhere between vaudeville and Warhol. Featuring vintage-hits and forgotten favorites, he thinks dance music is for pussies but The Shanghri-Las are fucking artists, man. Tech? NO.

Shanghai 24/7:

The 1 RMB Challenge is a 2 day music event meant to allow expats and Chinese music fans to explore popular acts in the others respective music scenes. We’re so passionate about this, the promoters will pay all audience members 1 RMB each for coming and checking it out.

The impetus for the show came from a meeting with local music promoters Brian Offenther (DJ B.O of Trash A Go-Go) and Xiao Wei 天水 (local band Dabei). To their mutual surprise, they both expressed frustration with getting audiences of the others respective communities to events.

As it currently stands, there are mostly exclusive expat and a Chinese art scene. With very few exceptions, and despite the efforts of many, few artists been able to “cross-over.” This is a real shame, as their integration could lead to bigger audiences, more diverse shows, unique collaborations, and an overall more vibrant scene.

The solution Brian Offenther and Xiao Wei came up with is this: a 2 day event, with the first (January 7) featuring super ace Chinese acts playing an event promoted to the expat community, and the second (January 8, in the afternoon) featuring expat acts playing for a Chinese audience. We hope this creates a dialogue and facilitates new connections between audience and artists. Also, it will rock like a mofo.
