Tony Adamo’s “MILES OF BLU” On Random Act Records

Wednesday, March 6th, 2013

On his latest effort, and debut recording for Random Act Records, TONY ADAMO has created a unique genre: “HipSpokenWord.” Built on the wisdom of musical wizards like Gil-Scott Heron, Mark Murphy, Jack Kerouac and hip/hop master rappers, Tony speaks the Truth through his poetic musings. With preeminent players like producer Mike Clark (drums), Richie Goods (bass), Delbert Bump (organ), Michael Wolff (piano), Bill Summers (percussion) and Tim Ouimette, Rob Dixon, Derek Gardner and even Tower of Power’s own physician of the funk, Stephen “Doc” Kupka. This release will turn heads and blow minds: Tales of travails and triumphs, told in the hippest of ways! Tony speaks/sings his way through the urban landscapes of Jazz, Funk and Soul.

From the title track “Miles of Blu,” a nod to the dark prince of Jazz, to “JB,” an homage to the Godfather of Soul, to a down-home “BBQ” and asking “America R We Free,” Tony tells it like it is in his own mesmerizing manner.

The Grooves are infectious, the moods evocative, the music sizzling and the words – HIP! “MILES OF BLU” takes listeners on a swinging journey, culminating in a funky good time! Fred Harris Random Act Records

MarilynMusic Continues To Forge It’s Place In The New Music Industry

Tuesday, January 29th, 2013

In New York City, MarilynMusic’s Casey Conrad has been busy with several projects over the last few months, including the long awaited album project from artist Joanne Perica, soon to be released. Perica, an established artist, writer and former member of pop group Harlow, has crafted 12 compelling and timeless songs sure to create an industry buzz. “Joanne will draw a whole new fan base since the release of her last album, as this production is intended to present her in a more organic way without compromising the artist’s proven pop accessibility,” Conrad explained.

Continued collaboration with Sony artist Sera Burus has yielded
new material as she works to complete her album helmed by CEO Doug Morris and A&R chief L.A. Reid.

Conrad is also mixing several albums for Gary Haase’s Headman Productions. Recording artists include world renowned drummer Buddy Williams, Broadway phenomenon Lillias White, as well as a series of albums for Glenn Roven’s label GPR.

Other new projects include a production for young artist OneLove out of NYC, as well as several new MarilynMusic written and produced songs, including soon to be released ‘Magic Star’ featuring artist One Love.

Upgrades to MarilynMusic’s studios include new super fast computers and massive amounts of the newest sounds, putting NYC’s ‘The Vertical Room’ and it’s LA counterpart ‘Mike’s Space’ on par with the most cutting edge studios available.

In Los Angeles, Michael Gaines (Conrad’s co-writer and partner in MarilynMusic) is currently enhancing their holiday music catalogue, adding more holiday genre tunes in collaboration with songwriters like Lenna Bauerly and Eric Palmquist. Also on behalf of MarilynMusic, Gaines is in discussions with TV and film director Bobby Garabedian to provide songs and score for two pilots that have already been shot.

Constantly writing and producing great new music, Gaines and Conrad’s MarilynMusic seamlessly bridges the distance between NYC and LA thanks to state of the art digital studios and a solid present time work ethic.

Redneck Californian and video star Ray Don Releases new single “Boca Raton”

Friday, January 25th, 2013

Ray Don, as seen in The Rescues’ video “Everything is Gonna Be Better Next Year” which was hailed by Buzzfeed as “the jam that will get us through 2013″, has released his latest single “Boca Raton”.

The banjo heavy, not suitable for work track, is the epitome of Hillbilly rock meets comedic relief. It truly displays how Ray Don and The Backwash Band have been able to keep true to their comedy roots while showcasing their skills as talented musicians.

Listen to “Boca Raton” here:
https://soundcloud.com/jillian-eipr/boca-raton-ray-don

Don, who plays with his band The Backwash Band, writes songs of life, love, and sometimes prison; delivering catchy melodies and clever (if sometimes vulgar) lyrics.

Citing influences such as Conway Twitty, Hank Williams (Jr. & Sr.), Loretta Lynn, Barry White and Lil Wayne, Ray don’s unique blend of country, bluegrosss and comedy have made his live shows as legendary as his alcohol tolerance.

“Boca Raton” will be featured on Ray Don’s latest release later this year, a milestone to some as he has not released a full-length album since 2006’s White Trash Show Tunes.

iWantJam Artist Spotlight: The Andromeda Project

Thursday, November 15th, 2012

>With a newly released music video and more and more live shows to boast, Northern California group The Andromeda Project are a rising rock group with a growing presence in the Cali rock scene. Growing up in California, Michael Tiffany and Russ Torres - the members of the band who write the majority of the music - were both heavily influenced by the rock and pop circulating the air waves on Cali’s radio stations. However, their group contains members from a varied age group, which injects a dose of diversity into their musical sensibilities. Though Tiffany and Torres were the principle writers on the self-titled first album, they indicated that the sophomore effort “will be a more highly collaborated offering.”

Although the group started off as a studio band, “live performances are what we love to do” Tiffany told me enthusiastically in an interview. After a “rocky transition” from studio to stage, The Andromeda Project buckled down, practiced for months and months are came back with a live sound they were proud of, though they’re humble enough to say it’s an “ongoing effort.” In response to the question of what to expect at one of their shows, they say the live experience is quite faithful to the studio sounds, though some pieces were adapted for a “more dramatic effect.” Lovers of the album won’t be disappointed, it seems, but they also will come away with something fresh.

As The Andromeda Project continues to develop, they must try to keep their heads above the insane torrent of new bands and artists that seem to drown out many rock hopefuls. Torres seems confident that their passion will shine through, “and only the future will show how our love for music will materialize.” With the freedom to pursue their own vision without the constraints of marketing executives’ desires, The Andromeda Project aims to provide a rock experience that reflects their drive to express themselves and makes them stand out. It’s clear after talking to them that their motivated and doing what they can to leave a strong impression: “people want to see and hear and we want to deliver.”

Chinese Singer Ruhan Delights Midem Attendees

Thursday, February 23rd, 2012

Midem 2012 served as the forum for China’s shot at launching a new artist internationally. Together with representative from the General Administration of Press & Publication (GAPP) and China Audio Video Association (CAVA), Shanghai Synergy Culture & Entertainment Group introduced singer Ruhan during a press conference at the Sound of China Pavilion on Sunday, January 29th. One of the first artists actively promoted by the national Chinese government, Ruhan performed three songs from her album “Time To Grow” which is being released in Europe and North American respectively by Silva Screen Records and OneEntertainment.

“Wars Of Love” is a strong and gripping song that Ruhan sang with power and emotion. With what sounded at times like a military sounding backdrop, transformed into a soft, tender support for her very capable vocals that did not fail to impress. Her range was hypnotic and her interpretation of the song was dynamic, as she hit every note with precision.

“Dancing On The Rainbow” is a lovely classic Chinese pop song. Ruhan took the audience on a trip that is absolutely captivating as they began to imagine that magical rainbow, while being moved by the emotions expressed in her voice. She also has amazing presence and poise to go along with her stunning voice as she reaches into the crowd to grab a gentleman and lead him into a short dance over that rainbow. At this point, the audience is pretty hooked by Ruhan’s vocal style and presence. But just when you thought you’d heard it all, she really lets go with her range and emotions, ending the song and dance with a thunderous conclusion. It speaks volumes to Ruhan’s talent that she was able to give this caliber performance in a non-traditional venue like the Riviera exhibit hall.
