American Singer/songwriter Jamie Bendell will release new EP, Blue Sky Days, on January 29th

Thursday, January 31st, 2013

New York-based singer/songwriter Jamie Bendell plans to release her fourth EP Blue Sky Days on January 29th. The five-track CD follows her last EP I’m Not Sorry Anymore and continues Jamie’s signature themes of soul-searching, self-realization, hope and love.

Growing up in Roslyn, NY in a musical family, Jamie began playing piano at 5 years old, wrote her first song at age 9, and learned guitar when she was 14. After earning her business administration degree from Emory University in 2009, Jamie packed up her car and drove 14 hours to the Big Apple to pursue her music career. Since then, Jamie has recorded four EPs: Waiting for Owls in 2009, Something More in 2010, I’m Not Sorry Anymore in 2011, and Blue Sky Days, which will be released on January 29th 2013.

A self-proclaimed “endearingly neurotic Colbie Caillat”, Jamie admits she pours a lot of her emotions into her lyrics. “Anxiety does play a hand in inspiring my lyrics,” says Jamie. “I over-think things constantly and a lot of my inspiration comes from situations in which I feel confused or that someone took advantage of me or acted out of line.”

Jamie also writes about the things that drive her mad: love, life, self-doubt and the many other things that weigh her heart down, with a voice that alternates between a breathy timber and a belting soprano.

Jamie has toured the US and Canada extensively, including Toronto, New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, San Diego, Atlanta and Nashville. Her next show will be at Webster Hall in New York City, opening for Jon Sandler at 8PM on Wednesday, January 16th. New Release By Ariana “You’re Not Alone” Is Out Now

Thursday, October 11th, 2012

The time is here for the new release by Ariana “You’re Not Alone” on Soundcloud http://soundcloud.com/arianaofficial/youre-not-alone

After taking a few years off, multi-platinum recording artist Ariana is set to release her new single “You’re Not Alone” in an unexpected new genre for the soulful Russian American vocalist, whose hits included power ballads “Under the Spanish Sky” and “I’ll Do it All Again”.

“Taking time off was the best choice I could’ve made, because now I’m ready to dive head first into my musical passion — the world of EDM. It’s been an amazing journey, and I’m finally ready to share it with my patient and loyal fans all over the world!” says Ariana of her return to music. Her new single “You’re Not Alone” is a delectable mix of vocal progressive house and dubstep with a hint of her current influences, Nadia Ali, Medina, and Kaskade. “Typically, in EDM, the focus is on the DJ and the vocals are like a complementary accessory to the song. I’d like to help change that, and bring the focus back to the singer and create a harmonious marriage, if you will, between the two sides. I think it could really be something glorious.”

In terms of her plans, Ariana doesn’t plan to only focus on her own project. “Because I’ve been in the music business for so many years, I always saw myself developing and producing talent as well as my own music. This is why I try to surround myself with as much young talent as possible — because that’s where the future of music is at. Jack Wilson, who co-wrote and co-produced my new single is a rising star…you can quote me on that!” Judging by the buzz her new track is creating — we think so too.

You can follow Ariana’s progress on Twitter: @Arianaisback, or her website: www.arianaofficial.com.”

MusicDishTV Presents “In Dreams With You” By Contemporary Singer Lily

Saturday, September 8th, 2012

The video and track “In Dreams With You” from the contemporary artist Lily, who calls the West Australian port city of Fremantle home, and has a rich Eurasian heritage, is a simple, but very engaging experience as viewers see Lily belt out the tune, which can only be described as country with soul. Lily has a beautiful, powerful voice, and this ballad, which includes a sexy guitar solo, and commands this song with the expertise of an artist who has passion and raw talent. The song is hauntingly beautiful, and it’s one of the best and most memorable singles that I have heard in a very long time. The arrangement and production, combined with Lily’s stellar vocal performance and the great musicianship of those playing behind her make this video memorable and the track one that is a must have. No matter what genre of music you like, “In Dreams With You” will touch your heart and soul.

Elijah Rock - ‘Elijah Rock LIVE In Hollywood’ EP

Friday, September 7th, 2012

Rising star Elijah Rock makes big waves in the music world as he releases his digital single, ‘That First Time’ as well as his digital album EP ‘Elijah Rock LIVE in Hollywood’ Rock is a Jazz Crooner, one that is long awaited and rare. A live 7-piece ensemble accompanies him, conveying the sound of a mini Big Band. The EP was recorded live on June 26th, 2012 at the annual KJAZZ (88.1) FM Hollywood & Highland Summer Jazz Concert Series in Los Angeles, CA. In addition to the studio single of ‘That First Time,’ the EP features Rocks enthralling studio recording of the classic spiritual ‘Swing Low, Sweet Chariot.”

Elijah Rock started pursuing his love of music in his native town of Cleveland, OH. After attending the Cleveland Institute of Music as a vocal performance major, Rock landed in New York City. His smooth vocal tone and distinctive vibrato drew comparisons to such greats as Arthur Prysock, Billy Eckstine, Joe Williams and Sammy Davis Jr. Both the single and the LIVE recordings swing hard, reminiscent of 1960’s Big Band era but with a contemporary flare. ‘That First Time, ‘New York City Springtime’ and ‘Shake it Baby Blues’ are all Rocks original compositions but they’ll take you back to the classic sound of The Great American Songbook. With acclaimed musicians Abe Lagrimas, Jr. on Drums, Mahesh Balasooria on piano, Dominic Theroux on bass, a swinging horn section led by trumpeter Antonio Dangerfield and Rock highlighting his tap dancing prowess, his show is known to be immensely entertaining.

Rock not only embodies the Big Band in sound but also in aesthetic. His tailored suits and fine haberdashery confirm his essence and his honest nature as a first class act. He says, “Duke Ellington, and Billy Eckstine taught me the timelessness of the consummate gentlemen’s lifestyle. It’s in everything I do. It’s who I’ve learned to become.”

Contemporary Chanteuse Lily Calls The West Australian Port City Of Fremantle Home

Tuesday, September 4th, 2012

If music can be just like putting on a dress and each one has a different style, shape, colour and texture, then Lily is currently wearing a soft and flowing wine-coloured dress with a fitted bodice.

Short and just a little bit left of centre, it’s a perfect Fremantle dress and equally perfect attire for the two songs the dark-haired, creamy-featured singer has recently recorded.

In Dreams With You and Love Song 612 are two songs written by fellow Fremantle singer-songwriter Billie Reid. A prolific and sometimes highly political songwriter and poet, Billie is a bit of a recluse so local studio owner Darren Halifax wanted to make sure his work was heard. Darren purchased the rights to a collection of Billie’s songs, is recording them with a number of Perth singers and invited Lily to be one of them.

Fuelled by Eurasian heritage, a lust to wander and a well-stamped passport tucked into that bodice, contemporary songbird Lily calls the West Australian port city of Fremantle home. When you hear these interpretations though, you’ll also wonder how big a piece of Nashville, Tennessee she carries.

The 23-year-old’s recordings of Billie Reid’s songs are soulfully country and with an undeniable feeling and yearning for the coast. The songs from the project have allowed her to re-interpret the songs and let imagination rule.

“We’ve treated the songs with a breezy tone and have taken a really human approach to them,” Lily says. “It’s nice to work in a style which hasn’t been expected. It’s totally different from what I normally sing, which is part of the point. When Lily meets Billie’s songs I get totally immersed in this project and somehow the songs have become part of my own story too.”

While there were originals of Billie’s to listen to, Lily got the chance to interpret each song in a way which resonated with her and spoke truth from a woman’s perspective.

“Once we started working on the songs, where to take them became quite obvious. With 612, his sentiment is really something I could relate to, so it was really easy to interpret the lyrics in a meaningful way.

“For In Dreams With You, I had to push it a little more to really create my own relationship with the song. Equally, that’s part of the challenge of taking on someone else’s songs. I think it’s a greater challenge to be working with existing melodies.”

In her heart, Lily is a girl bursting with stories to tell. Irrelevant of era, genre or format, the ability to tell a worthy story makes for a beguiling song. Like any good story - even someone else’s - the chance for Lily to tell it in her own voice is a truly beautiful and honourable thing.

Lily can’t quite put her finger on which genre of music she loves the most though. Immersing herself in the vein-deep heritage of Nashville turned all musical notions inside out. Lily tasted and flirted with everything from stomping honky-tonk to angelically soulful country before answering the call of Freo, the mighty Indian Ocean and Billie’s songs.

The petite singer has always known that music was her destiny. With a father who continues to sing and drum in numerous bands and a mother who was also a singer, Lily has always been surrounded by music, so it really felt inevitable

“Unlike a lot of kids, I was quite proud of my parents’ musical taste. There were a real mix of styles and genres constantly in our ears. There was a lot of Motown. Growing up, my brothers and I were surrounded by Earth Wind & Fire, the Chi-Lites and Aretha Franklin. It didn’t take me long to get suckered in by the powerful emotional pull of women like Billie Holiday and Nina Simone. This music became a tradition in our household.”

The singer made her debut at an end of year school performance. Frightened out of her wits, she sang Summertime from Porgy and Bess and absolutely loved the experience. Next stop was the school jazz band and she never looked back.

Now with music by her side - and an ever-evolving wardrobe - Fremantle is the perfect place for Lily to take a deep cleansing breath and open her musical heart to Billie Reid’s songs.

R&B/Pop Talent Amira Releases Debut Single, “Sunny Day” From Upcoming Self-Titled EP

Monday, August 20th, 2012

Bridgett McKenzie, Manager for the up and coming R&B/pop talent Amira, announced the release of Amira’s new single, “Sunny Day”. The track is the debut release from Amira’s self-titled EP, which is slated for release early next year. “Sunny Day” is being made available to fans at no cost on Amira’s Facebook page.

McKenzie is enthusiastic about both the release and the artist. “Amira is a breath of fresh air. She merges multiple genres into an R&B base with a soulful, smooth voice, and the combination is both powerful and unique. Her lyrics are meaningful and catchy, and she really takes pride in what she writes and sings. She’s a great, clean cut artist whose music both children and parents can agree on, because it’s good and it’s positive.” She continued, “Sunny Day” is a song that we’re both very proud of. It has the same kind of vibe that Will Smith’s “Summertime” has, and while it’s soothing, you can definitely bump your head to it. Amira doesn’t compromise when it comes to her music or career, and this song will prove that. She’s a very versatile artist who is able to perform songs from many different genres and still produce a great track. In the next couple of weeks, fans will see another side of her on YouTube as she performs the cover for Taylor Swift’s new song, “We Are Never Getting Back Together.”

Critiquing the track, MusicDish said, “Sunny Day” is an R&B and pop mix that lifts your spirits and elevates your mood and day. It’s the perfect way to ease into chill mode and be relaxed and at peace. It just made the top of my morning mix because the words and the music are so positive. The piano and keys get this song started with a warm mix and easy mid tempo dance track, with a nice kick drum. The percussion isn’t “in your face,” but is smooth, and the vocals are rocking. Amira has a great soft, soulful voice, and the background vocals complement the song well. With lyrics like, “Nothing’s gonna change my mind, Nothing’s gonna bring me down”, that are set to smooth, but catchy music; “Sunny Day” just keeps you on a high note. The high string hits really add nice touches, and the track is well produced. This is a great song for a world that needs more smiles and positivity.”

˜Sunny Day” was written by Amira, Kevin Jackson, Jr. (the son of 80’s sensation, Stacy Lattisaw), and Bridgett McKenzie. Produced by Kevin Jackson, Jr., ˜Sunny Day” was recorded and mixed at Night Flight Studios in Fort Washington, Maryland. Download the single “Sunny Day” absolutely free at Amira’s Facebook page.
